What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible people with disability to access supports and services related to their disability and goals.
Choosing your provider
You have a choice about which providers you work with, subject to the rules that apply to how your NDIS funding is managed.
The NDIS currently identifies three main funding-management options: self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed.
-
If you self-manage your NDIS funding, you generally have the flexibility to choose registered or unregistered providers, subject to applicable NDIS rules.
-
If your funding is plan-managed, your registered plan manager manages payments and financial administration. You can generally choose either registered or unregistered providers, subject to applicable NDIS rules.
-
If your funding is NDIA-managed, you must use registered NDIS providers for your NDIS supports.
